Monkey Tries to Bite Man

A tourist got an unexpected fright when a seemingly cute monkey tried to bite him in the face.

While in the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, Indonesia, the man made the mistake of looking one of the monkeys in the eyes while it was on his back.

After trying to get a peek at the little guy, the monkey felt threatened and took a nip at the man's face.

What originally looked like a sweet moment turned a little frightening as the monkey bared its rather large and scary-looking teeth while lunging at the holidaymaker.

Thankfully, though, it didn't actually bite him.

The Ubud Monkey Forest is a nature reserve and Hindu temple complex in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. Its official name is the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary.

The Ubud Monkey Forest is a popular tourist attraction and is often visited by over 10,000 holidaymakers a month.

It lies within the village of Padangtegal, which owns it. The village's residents view the Monkey Forest as an important spiritual, economic, educational, and conservation centre for the village.

Its website reads: "The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary (Monkey Forest Ubud) is not just a tourist attractions or important component in the spiritual and economic life of the local community, but also an important spot for research and conservation programmes.

"The special management and arrangement that has been done in this area encouraged researchers from various research institutions around the world to conduct research, particularly on the monkeys' social interaction and behaviour with their surrounding environment."
