Woman charged with murder of North Tyneside man James Prout

A woman has been charged with the murder of a man who had not been seen by family and friends for more than a month.

Three more people have been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in connection with the investigation into James Prout's death.

Officers found the body of 43-year-old Mr Prout a short distance from his home on St Stephen's Way, in Percy Main, North Tyneside.

He was reported missing on Good Friday but had not been seen for weeks.

Five people - two men and three women - were arrested on suspicion of Mr Prout's murder.

Northumbria Police confirmed that four people have now been charged in connection with the investigation.

Anne Corbett, 25, of Percy Main, has been charged with murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Zahid Zaman, 42, Myra Wood, 49, and Kay Rayworth, 55, all of Percy Main, have all been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

A 26-year-old man, from Ashington, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

A force spokesman said inquiries will continue and asked anyone with information to contact police on 101 quoting reference 209 25/03/16.
