Pedestrian dies after collision with car

A pedestrian has died after a collision with a Mercedes car.

The man, in his 30s, was involved in the accident with a white Mercedes A class car on the northbound carriageway of the A22 Croydon Road near to Wapses Lodge roundabout in Caterham, Surrey, at 11pm on Saturday.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: "The pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have yet to be informed.

"The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision, a woman in her 20s, had minor injuries which were treated at the scene by paramedics and no injuries were reported by the two passengers.

"Officers are carrying out further inquiries as part of an ongoing investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."
