Thorpe Park 'sorry' after 12p tickets sell out before they go on sale

Thorpe Park has apologised to its customers after it offered 12p entry tickets to fans who logged onto its website at 10am but hundreds of people said they received a 'sold out' message the minute the tickets were due to go on sale.

Shannon Eynon wrote: "This has literally ruined my whole day and I feel played, Thorpe Park. I don't know how I'm ever gonna have the same outlook on your theme park now knowing it's all built on lies."

Others took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

The Surrey attraction promoted the 12pm tickets to mark the arrival of new attraction Derren Brown's Ghost Train.

A Thorpe Park spokesman told the Daily Mail: "There was a very limited amount of tickets released to celebrate the arrival of our amazing new attraction Derren Brown's Ghost Train.

"Knowing how popular it would be, we did extend the bandwidth to the website which was set to changeover at 10am and despite testing in advance, the site worked better than timed trials and went live 2-3 minutes earlier than expected.

"Sorry to those that were unsuccessful, and congratulations to those who secured a 12p ticket."
