Built in 1989 for the British rock legend David Bowie, in collaboration with renowned architects Arne Hasslqvist, known as 'The man who built Mustique' and Robert Litwiller, Mandalay is a Balinese-styled beauty.

It's a blend of wonderful ornate Balinese style and Caribbean charm, and contains all of the original fixtures and styling from David Bowie's ownership.

The property has five bedroom suites each with their own private veranda which lead straight to the pool, several impressive reception rooms, a dining pavilion, games room, study, infinity pool as well as a number of private garden decks for sunbathing, dining or relaxing.

Facing west, the property, situated on 6.2 acres, enjoys views of the Mustique sunsets, white sandy beaches and clear turquoise seas.

As well as the main property, Mandalay is also home to 'The Writer's Cottage' which offers self-contained, open plan accommodation away from the main villa.

The writer's cottage was used regularly by poet and publisher Felix Dennis who purchased the property from David Bowie in 1995. Felix wrote many of his most well-known pieces of work including How to Get Rich and A Glass Half Full in the writer's cottage.

Bowie fans will also be keen to check out 'The Studio', a private pavilion which was originally David Bowie's recording studio and now offers further accommodation.

There are fourteen members of staff on hand to ensure you have the stay of your dreams.

Got a spare £28k? It's yours for the week.

David Bowie described Mustique as a "fantasy island", and it's certainly a favourite with the A-list. As well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, other fans of the Caribbean paradise include Mick Jagger, Hugh Grant and Kate Moss.

If this spot's a little out of your price range, think about booking a stay at the Cotton House, which is the only hotel on the private island.
