TripTips from the TripAdvisor community:

"If you head for the Marina, there are loads of family restaurants there, especially along the quay." -Langdonseagull.

"Trains to Brighton depart from a variety of Central London stations including London Bridge, Victoria, St Pancras International and Blackfriars. The services are turn-up-and-go, no need to pre-book. If you are travelling at a weekend, you may be affected by engineering work. Buy a day return ticket:this allows you to travel at any time." Wirewiper

"A fun way to learn more about Brighton is on a walking tour. The Brighton Story is a 90 minute city tour with a local guide."Seagull9

"There is secure underground parking at Regency Square. It's £16 per 24 hr period."Bl0ndie72

"Apart from Brighton's Laines, consider a trip (by bus or train) to Lewes. There are a number of antique shops on the Cliffe. And good pubs too." Davidblades

"There are loads of cafés in the North Laines. Mange Tout in Trafalgar Street is great. Silo Brighton in Upper Gardner St is meant to be very good, and Cafe Coho has great coffee and some breakfast items. But really, just have a wander round the North Laines and see what takes your fancy. You'll stumble upon loads of cafés, and be spoilt for choice." Theartgirl

"I would recommend a walk on the seafront (seeing the famous Grand Pier and down to the old burned pier or even beyond to Hove) and also visiting the Royal Pavilions and the free museum within. Whilst in that area you can also visit the Laines, which are nice and has alternative shops aplenty to see." Riotstar

"The best way to spend four hours in Brighton is to walk from the station to the beach via the North Laines, take a look at The Royal Pavilion and the sights along the way, the quirky people/shops. Go to The Lanes making your way to the beach, take a walk on the pier, have fish n' chips on there and take a slow walk back." Brightonrob32

"Best advice is to take the train or park well outside the main areas and use the buses to get in. I noted that at places like North Laine, on-street parking is an eye watering £3.50 an hour! (9am-8pm)"
