The Martian (CERT 12) 2 HRS 24 MINS
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meagre supplies, Watney must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring "the Martian" home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return.
Crimson Peak (CERT 15) 2 HRS
Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, Crimson Peak centers on an aspiring author who, in the aftermath of a family tragedy, is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds... and remembers.
Brooklyn is the story of a young woman, Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) who moves from small town Ireland to Brooklyn, NY where, unlike home, she has the opportunity for work and for a future - and love, in the form of Italian-American Tony (Emory Cohen). When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself absorbed into her old community, but now with eligible Jim (Domhnall Gleeson) courting her. As she repeatedly postpones her return to America, Eilis finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma - a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.
Suffragette (CERT 12) 1 HR 46 MINS
Suffragette is an intense drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement as they fought for the right to vote, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State. These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing. Radicalised and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality - their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives. Maud (Carey Mulligan) is one such foot soldier. The story of her fight for dignity is both heart-breaking and inspirational.
Pan (CERT PG) 1 HR 51 MINS
Offering a new take on J.M. Barrie's classic story of a flying boy who never ages, acclaimed British director Joe Wright reimagines the ageless tale for audiences worldwide. Set during World War II, the story follows the orphaned Peter, who's kidnapped by pirates and brought to the magical Neverland, where he finds both fun and dangers and ultimately discovers his destiny to free the land from the pirate Blackbeard and become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. This epic live action film features a stellar cast including Hugh Jackman as the villainous pirate Blackbeard.
