Restaurant owner bans bankers after being refused loan

A restaurant owner who wanted to take out a loan had his claim rejected, so now he's turned the tables and done some rejecting himself.

The Parisian restaurant owner has decided to ban all bankers from entering and dining at his French eaterie.

According to the International Business Times, the restaurant, Les Ecuries de Richelieu, is owned by Alexandre Callet and features on the prestigious Michelin rankings.

Callet was looking for almost €79,000 so he could open a second restaurant. He claimed his little place in a Pairs suburb is very profitable and also said that he has never had any money troubles, which makes the fact that he had his loan refused a little puzzling.

The owner then told local news that he believes in reciprocity, saying: "If you hit me, I'll hit you."

The restaurant now has a sign in its window saying the although dogs are welcome, bankers are banned from the establishment.

But there is one stipulation that will allow bankers into the restaurant... if they bring €79,000 with them!

But the real question is, how is this restaurant owner expecting to be able to tell the difference between bankers and those with other jobs?

Callet said: "As soon as I see a banker that I recognise, I won't let them enter my restaurant. They have treated me like a dog, so I have denied them access."

He added: "I'm not going to police the doors but the people concerned know who they are."
