Duchess of Cambridge: Kate Guest Edits Huffington Post

The Duchess of Cambridge is guest editing The Huffington Post UK today.

Kate is launching an editorial series called Young Minds Matter that aims to encourage conversations with children about mental health.

From the temporary Kensington Palace newsroom, Kate will discuss the articles, blogs and videos she has commissioned from leading figures in the mental health sector to raise awareness about the psychological well-being of the nation's children.

The Duchess has campaigned about the issue in recent years and is patron of several related charities.

Ahead of her guest editing stint, new research by The Huffington Post UK found that 24% of parents are concerned their children may be facing mental health issues.

The poll also found that 66% of parents think children today are more susceptible to mental health problems than when they were a child. Of this group, 81% think this is due to increased exposure to social media and 69% think this is because of body image pressures.

The research, conducted by You Gov on more than 1,000 British parents with children under 18, also found that a third of parents said that they would worry they would look like a bad parent if their child had a mental health problem

"The research reveals that there has never been a more important time to talk about mental health with young people," said The Huffington Post UK's editor-in-chief Stephen Hull.

"At The Huffington Post UK, we are aiming to open up a dialogue about these very real concerns and remove the stigma surrounding mental health problems in children, which is why we are thrilled that the Duchess of Cambridge will join our team for a day to guest edit HuffPost UK and help launch our Young Minds Matter initiative."
