A British tourist has been refused entry into Thailand because she ripped pages out of her passport to use as toilet paper on a night out.

Faye Wilson, 28, a hairdresser from the Lake District, was escorted all the way back to the UK by a security guard after being turned back at the airport by immigration.

She said that she and a friend had used the passport pages as toilet paper when they'd got caught short a few years earlier.

Faye, who had been planning on spending a month in Thailand before working in Australia for a year, had caught a connecting flight to Bangkok from Dubai.

She said she didn't even have the chance to explain why her passport pages were missing before she was turned away.

Speaking to the Daily Mail she explained: "I just said that I had lost the pages because I was too embarrassed to explain the real reason.

"Before I could explain more, they had deported me back to Dubai and then to Glasgow and confiscated my documents."

Speaking about the night in question, Faye told ITV News: We were walking from one bar to the next and we must have been desperate for a wee and obviously didn't have any toilet roll," she said.

"We decided it would be a good idea to use my passport, which is obviously really stupid.

"It was maybe two or three pages. I was a bit drunk so didn't even think about the consequences."

She said that she will apply for an emergency passport in an attempt to join her friend again in Thailand.

She added: "I felt like I was a criminal - people were looking at me wondering why a border official sat with me the whole time. I don't know what a criminal looks like but I'm not one."
