You can now rent this castle in Italy - for £80,000 a week

A newly restored Tuscan castle has opened its drawbridge to paying guests - but you'll need a king's ransom to stay in it.

Castle Porrona Relais in Italy's Tuscan hills can be hired by an individual, a couple, a family or a group of up to 10 but it only takes one booking at a time.

This means the customer has the run of the 900-year-old castle and its grounds.

But whoever rents the unique property out will need a king's ransom to stay there - as it costs £80,000 a week or £12,000 a night.

For that price they get five luxurious en-suite bedrooms and their own personal butler. At an extra cost they can also get their own chef to serve in the main hall.

The castle was built by the government of Sienna in the 12th century.

Ana Toledo, sales and marketing manager for Castel Porrona Relais, said: "The castle can be hired out to anyone but it has to be the entire castle. It is not like a hotel which is hired out per room.

"It could be a couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family or a group of friends."

She added: "It is very real and gives people the experience of living like a King and Queen with their own butler and chef.

"Since the restoration we are hiring it out for the first time from March. We have quite a few bookings already, including a wedding."
