Rare baby golden snub-nosed monkey amazed by snow in China

A family of rare golden snub-nosed monkeys were pictured playing at the Shennongjia Nature Reserve as China's Hubei forests were blanketed by snow.

One adorable baby monkey was pictured staring in amazement at the snow-covered surroundings as other young monkeys climbed trees.

According to Shanghaiist, there are between 8,000 and 15,000 golden monkeys left in the world.

They are found the mountainous forests of central and southwest China, and can withstand colder average temperatures than any other non-human primates.

The monkeys are found in groups of around five to ten individuals. Protecting the young is a group effort and when facing predators, such as the northern goshawk, they are placed in the centre of the group.
