Dolly the cat made waves when she ran away to sea

A runaway cat with a taste for the high life has been found after she stowed away on a luxury motor cruiser.

Dolly, a black-and-white rescue cat, disappeared from her home in Cowes, Isle of Wight about five weeks ago, leaving owner Debs Murphy-Latham worried for her safety.

Now Mrs Murphy-Latham has received a phone call from the owner of the luxury boat, from Poole, Dorset, saying they had found the three-year-old cat who was identified through her identity microchip.

She said Dolly must have jumped aboard the luxury boat owned by the finders when it was moored up at Cowes and enjoyed life on board until the finders returned to Poole.

Mrs Murphy-Latham, who runs a holiday letting company called VIP Cottages, said: "Clearly Dolly has a taste for the high life, she has luxury tastes, she has gone from VIP Cottages to VIP yachts.

"Dolly has gone awol quite a few times before but it has always been on the island, but this time she must have made her way down to Cowes which is about a mile away and got on this beautiful yacht and taken herself off for Christmas and the new year and ended up in Poole."

Mrs Murphy-Latham, 44, said Dolly was a pet much-loved by herself and her daughters, Annabelle, seven, and Natasha, 10, since they brought the animal home from the Cats Protection adoption centre in Ryde where she was microchipped.

She said: "My daughters will have to peel themselves off the ceiling, they are so excited to have her back."

Mrs Murphy-Latham said that she hoped to travel to the mainland this weekend to collect Dolly and bring her back home.
