Lucas told Storyful that he "wanted to see the Eiffel Tower from my bed". His skilful work with mirrors, drills and other implements led to a successful outcome and Lucas can now bid the iconic landmark good night just before he falls asleep.

The Parisian shared a video of the unusual project on YouTube, which showed him strategically placing two mirrors on his windowsill to achieve the incredible view.

Speaking to Inverse, Lucas said: "When I was young I used to make some tiny periscopes to spy on my older brother Victor. It gave me the idea one year ago to make a big one to shift the view from my window."

Earlier this year, the Eiffel Tower was named the most 'selfied' attraction in the world.

AttractionTix.com analysed more than 200 million Instagram photos using the tag 'selfie' as a search filter.

Dubai's Burj Khalifa and Florida's Disney World just missed out on the top spot, coming in as runners up.

Other European attractions to make it into the top ten were London's Big Ben and London Bridge, Barcelona's Sagrada Familia, The Colosseum and Disneyland Paris.
