Motorists have been advised to begin their Christmas journeys early or face travel chaos, as millions hit the roads to visit friends and family over the festive period.

More than four million motorists are expected to take to the nation's roads over Christmas, with many clocking off early on Friday 18th and commencing the annual present-laden pilgrimage.
