Two women wanted over 'racist attack' on London bus

Updated

Police have released images of two women wanted in connection with a suspected racist attack on a Muslim woman who was punched and kicked on a bus.

Scotland Yard said they are treating the alleged assault as a "hate crime" after witnesses heard two female suspects shouting racist and Islamophobic abuse at the victim.

Officers were called to the incident on the number 63 bus in London Road, Southwark, south London, at around 8.10pm on October 28.

They found the victim in her 40s who was badly shaken and taken to a central London hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged.

Both suspects are described as black females aged in their 20s. No arrests have been made.

The Metropolitan Police has urged anyone with footage or images of the incident to come forward.

The bus was travelling from Kings Cross to Peckham and police believe a number of passengers may have filmed the incident and taken pictures of the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
