Samantha Cameron and Ed Balls line up for Bake Off charity special

Updated

Samantha Cameron will be putting her baking prowess to the test when she joins a host of celebrities to compete in a special Great British Bake Off series.

BBC One will air a special called The Great Sport Relief Bake Off, a four-part series that will see 16 celebrities bake off against each other in a bid to raise money for Sport Relief.

The special could also see a Labour versus Tory bake off as former shadow chancellor Ed Balls is another of the contestants taking part.

Also hoping to get their pastry fluffy and their cakes perfectly risen are Will Young, Geri Horner (formerly Halliwell), Ade Edmondson, Alison Steadman, Chris Kamara, David James, Jason Manford, Jermaine Jenas, John Simpson, Kimberley Walsh, Louise Redknapp, Maddy Hill, Morgana Robinson and Victoria Coren-Mitchell.

Judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will return to put the contestants through their paces.

Absolutely Fabulous star Jennifer Saunders, Ed Byrne, comedienne Sarah Millican and Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc will each present one episode as four celebrities compete per episode.

Sports presenter Clare Balding and Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis will also feature, as the series will follow them as they each visit different charity projects.

Balding will be visiting a number of projects in Kenya, while Lewis will be at a UK project, hoping to show the difference any money raised for Sport Relief could make.
