Two men charged after being detained in Hungary

Two prominent Islamists who were brought back to the UK after being detained in Hungary have been charged.

Trevor Brooks and Simon Keeler are accused of breaches of notification requirements under Part 4 of the Counter Terrorism Act 2008.

The pair will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London, Scotland Yard said.

They were held by Hungarian authorities on November 14 on a train headed for Bucharest, Romania.

A Budapest court ruled last week that they should be deported to Britain based on a European arrest warrant.

In hearings in the Hungarian capital Keeler, 44, of Shadwell in east London said he was trying to reach his wife and children in Turkey, while Brooks, 40, of Clapton in east London - also known as Abu Izzadeen - said he wanted to be sent back to Britain.
