The top three 'Instagrammable' places around the world were recently announced - and Cambridge, UK in first place, followed by Darwin in Australia and Aix en Provence, France.

Cambridge may be best known for its world class university, but the city is also home to hundreds of beautiful cobbled streets and lanes, not to mention the stunning college buildings that line the River Cam. The sites of the city are just irresistable for social media sharing, it seems.

Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory, which sits on the edge of Kakadu National Park, is one of the most northerly points in the country. Visitors and Instagrammers can't stop admiring the gorgeous coastline with clear blue waters and stunning scenery to match.

Aix-en-Provence is another university city, but very different to Cambridge in style. Found in the south of France, Aix is home to wide, sunlit tree-lined streets where visitors will find a host of open-air markets and cafes.
