MoneySuperMarket, the UK's leading price comparison website, has negotiated an exclusive British Gas energy tariff with an average price for typical users of just £804.88 a year.

Millions of people are languishing on their supplier's 'standard tariffs', where typical prices are around £1,100 a year. So there are big savings to be had from switching to the MoneySuperMarket Energy Bill Buster.

Our figures show that the average saving for those able to save on their energy bills at MoneySuperMarket is £283.49, based on August 2015 data.

And it's great news for existing British Gas customers, and those who get their energy from Sainsbury's Energy, which is powered by British Gas.

British Gas is waiving any exit fees that apply to its existing tariffs, so all its customers can take advantage of the Energy Bill Buster, which is the lowest-priced British Gas tariff since its Web Saver 11 deal, which was available until May 2011 (calculated using average consumption figures from Ofgem, the energy market regulator).

Exclusive deal

This exclusive offer is a dual fuel tariff, which means it includes both gas and electricity supply, and it's fixed for 12-months. That means the rate payable for each unit of energy is guaranteed not to increase for the duration of the contract.

Energy Bill Buster is only available to switch to until December 2, 2015. It then expires on December 2, 2016, so you'd need to switch again around a month before then.

If you didn't move to another tariff, you'd move onto a British Gas standard tariff, which would be relatively expensive. We always recommend switching to a competitive fixed-rate tariff.

If you switched during the 12-month fixed term of the Energy Bill Buster, you'd pay £60 in exit fees. But exit fees aren't levied within six weeks of a tariff end-date, 2016, so you could find your next deal in plenty of time without paying anything.

If you opt for the Energy Bill Buster, you'll have to pay by monthly direct debit. Switching should take no more than 17 days, and you can apply any time up to December 2, 2015.

The sooner you apply, the sooner you start saving.
