A video has shown what appears to be a very near miss between the world's biggest passenger plane and a helicopter in Dubai.

The Airbus A380 plane flies in from the right of the helicopter and swoops underneath it, exiting on the left.

Rather than being an accidental close call, however, the footage is actually a promotional video for Emirates Airlines.

Dayv Franco, a 28-year-old Brazilian pilot, posted the 14-second video clip on his Facebook page, Vida de Piloto.

Emirates has 65 A380s in its fleet, each costing £242 million, with a capacity of 853 people.

In the UK, the A380 always remains at least 3,700ft away from another plane on takeoff.

The Daily Telegraph reports that it's not known how close the A380 comes to the helicopter but it appears to be well within 1,000ft.

So was there any danger here? Speaking to Mashable, Tom Curtis of Airsafe.com, said: ""In general for two aircraft flying in close proximity, size doesn't matter. If there's proper planning ahead of time and both sides know and maintain a proper separation distance, there shouldn't be a problem."

"Usually for a dramatic shot, you want to get as close as possible.

"But if the helicopter were only 150 feet above the aircraft, I would be nervous. If you misjudge anything, there would be very little time to react."

Emirates said the stunt was well planned and completely safe. Speaking to the Metro, an airline spokesman said: "Emirates can confirm that it has conducted air to air filming of the A380 over various parts of Dubai as well as the UAE, andhas safely completed all of the required flights."
