Ex-zoo worker to be sentenced after glassing monkey keeper love rival

A former zoologist is due to be sentenced after attacking a monkey-keeping love rival at a Christmas party.

Caroline Westlake, 30, was found guilty last month of glassing Kate Sanders, the ex-girlfriend of Westlake's new lover, llama keeper Adam Davies.

Westlake said she struck Ms Sanders with a glass accidentally after being confronted at the London Zoo Christmas social on December 8 last year.

Westlake claimed Ms Sanders punched her in the face first, and that she struck out with the glass accidentally.

She told the court she did not remember hitting Ms Sanders with the glass, but accepted that she may have reacted with it in her hand due to her dyspraxia and ADHD.

It came after Westlake heard Ms Sanders apparently making disparaging comments about her appearance in the toilets at the party, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard.

Westlake, of Salisbury Road, Banstead, Surrey, denied one count of assault but was convicted by magistrates.
