Chester Zoo staff do a good deed and it goes viral

Staff at Chester Zoo made one visitor's day by pumping up her vehicle's tyre after spotting it was flat in the car park.

Kindhearted Paul Weaver, a member of the car park team, spotted the flat tyre and went above and beyond to fix it,reports the Manchester Evening News.

Fiona Gray returned to her car after a visit to Chester Zoo and found staff had left a note for her on the windshield.

The note read: "Hi, we noticed that your rear passenger side tyre was low on air (slow puncture maybe!).

"We have blown it up to 30 PSI at 3.45pm so hope that gets you home OK."

Ms Gray was so touched she uploaded a picture of the note to Facebook - and it's now gone viral, with over 90,000 likes.

Fiona wrote: "Came to the car to find this on the windscreen! Would just like to thank whoever did it! It really made us smile."

Dom Strange, head of commercial operations at the zoo, said Paul and his team will be receiving "extra bacon butties" this week.

He told Aol Travel: "Part of our ethos at the zoo is to encourage teams to go the extra mile and exceed expectations. We see examples of this on an almost daily basis – for instance just a few days ago a member of staff spotted a little girl pick a piece of litter up from off the floor and put it in a bin and so he gave her an animal pop badge as a reward for her actions.

"We want people who come to the zoo to have a fun and memorable day out and our staff know that, as well as the animals, they're a big, big part of that. The people who work here really care about the place; they're proud of Chester Zoo and the conservation and education work it carries out around the world and I think that shines through in our customer service.

"We also always try and reward staff whenever they go above and beyond and so, this week, we'll certainly be dishing out extra bacon butties to all of the car park team to say thank you and to celebrate their success."

According to the Chester Chronicle, one Facebook user commented on the note: "Just another reason why it's the best zoo in the country."

Indeed, the zoo did come top in TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards list of the UK's best zoos in July.

Chester was also the only zoo in the UK to make it into the world's top ten this year, coming in at seventh place with San Diego Zoo in the United States topping the list.

Chester Zoo welcomes around 1.4 million visitors each year and is home to more than 12,500 animals.
