These are the best museums in the world: Do you agree?

TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice Awards have revealed the best museums around the world - and New York's huge Metropolitan Museum of Art took the top spot this year, seeing off stiff competition
from world-famous institutions including the Louvre in Paris and London's National Gallery.

'The Met' is the largest museum in the US and boasts a vast range of collections spanning more than 5,000 years of cultural artefacts, including an Egyptian stone temple, King Henry VIII's field armour and a medieval sculpture hall.

The museum is also one of the world's most-visited; it saw more than six million people through its doors in the past year alone (although the Louvre boasts bragging rights to numbers, having received 9.3 million visitors in 2014).

Winners of the Travellers' Choice Awards are determined using an algorithm that takes into account the quantity and quality of reviews for museums around the world gathered over a 12-month period.

London makes the top 15 twice with the National Gallery making it into the list in seventh place, followed by the British Museum in 12th places.

Amsterdam and Paris also boast two museums each on the list and the United States just beats them with three making the top 15.
