Film locations can provide the most inspiring settings for a holiday, whether you dream of relaxing in an Italian villa from a Bond movie or cosying up in an English cottage featured in a British drama.

Like the idea of a holiday fit for a Bond girl or 007 himself? Villa Gaeta overlooking Lake Como and Corfu's Villa Sylva were used as hideaways in two hit Bond movies and offer gorgeous views, luxurious interiors and amazing pools ideal for self-catering escapes in Europe.

In England, stately home Hedsor House starred in fantasy-adventure The Golden Compass as the home of Nicole Kidman's character Marisa Coulter. The entire house, which sleeps 22 people, can be rented for a staycation in Buckinghamshire. Meanwhile, Derbyshire is home to White Edge Lodge, which appeared in the 2011 film adaptation of Jane Eyre, where it starred as Moore House. The lovely cottage has eerie moorland views and interesting interior features, such as a kitchen in the former game cellar and fine views from the bathtub.
