'Disappointing' tourist attraction Dismaland Bemusement Park is to be sent to Calais to shelter refugees, artist Banksy has revealed.

The theme park closes at 10pm today (Sunday) before it will be taken down on Monday for all the timber and fixtures to be used as shelter for thousands of refugees.

On the Dismaland website, a notice read: "Coming soon... Dismaland Calais.

"All the timber and fixtures from Dismaland are being sent to the 'jungle' refugee camp near Calais to build shelters. No online tickets will be available."

Meanwhile, Visit Somerset has said the attraction has raked in a whopping £20 million for Weston-super-Mare's economy.

John Turner, the county's Destination Management Organisation chief executive, said: "This has been a global phenomenon of major importance for the region, as we have seen a large international surge in what is a predominately a solid and reliable domestic market.

"The majority of businesses have been reporting up to 50% increases on last year and as this event overlapped in the most crucial time in the holiday calendar, could well see a further £20,000,000 coming back into the local and regional economy."
