A rapist who fled before facing justice has been arrested in Hong Kong, police said.

Joseph Tsang, 31, was convicted in his absence at Oxford Crown Court last month of two counts of rape and sexual assault in Hampshire.

He was also facing sentencing after being convicted in January of other offences in Oxfordshire, including making indecent images of children and sexual activity with a child.

Tsang, of Sandy Lane, Oxford, was arrested by Hong Kong Police yesterday and will appear at the city's Eastern Magistrates' Court today.

Chief Inspector John Turner, of Thames Valley Police, said Tsang will be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court for 10 convictions.

It has emerged that the deportation process could take anywhere from between eight weeks to two years.
