In the aftermath of Volkswagen's pollution test rigging, designed to mask dangerous emission levels, millions of motorists could be driving illegal cars.

The German giant is currently facing fine of up to $18 billion after admitting it had regularly fitted software in VW and Audi diesels since 2009, deceiving regulators who were measuring the emissions.
