Picturesque Dead Sea Rivers Flood After Jerusalem Snow

After a snowfall in Jerusalem, the rivers flowing into the Dead Sea often flood, bringing rushing water to the usually peaceful and serene natural landscapes.

Videographer Amir Aloni captured the beautiful footage above when he was lucky enough to encounter the phenomena. His video shows the landscape, ranging from the edge of the coastline to the interior and then back out to sea again.

The opening shots show the true beauty of the green and blue-hued waters.

As the camera moves inland, the rapidly flowing waters of Israel's waterfalls appear to break through the dry, mountainous landscape.

The images of the figures making their way through the stunning scenery gives us a more accurate idea of the sheer scale of the waterways, before the film heads back to the open waters of the Dead Sea.

According to National Geographic, the Dead Sea is the lowest place on the earth and the water contains ten times more salt than other oceans around the world.

It's this unique factor that changes the composition of the water and means humans swimming in the Dead Sea will float and not sink.

The air around the Dead Sea is also believed to have around six per cent more oxygen in it than most other places.

It has also been suggested that the black mud found in the area has healing properties, especially for those suffering from skin diseases, rheumatological diseases and lung diseases.
