Revellers flock to end-of-season End of the Road festival

Thousands of end-of-season festival-goers were rewarded with glimpses of warm summer sunshine for the 10th anniversary End of the Road Festival this weekend.

The sell-out event, held at the Larmer Tree pleasure gardens on the Dorset/Wiltshire border, plays host to a varied musical line-up taking in alternative, folk and Americana.

The headliner, Michigan-born songwriter Sufjan Stevens, will perform his first ever European festival show tonight, following on from Australia's psychedelic outfit Tame Impala, who hit the main stage on Friday.

Sunday night will see The War On Drugs - winners of the critics' album of 2014 award - play their only summer festival in the UK this year, while songstress Laura Marling, art pop quartet Django Django and 90s pop legends Saint Etienne are among other acts featured.

Alongside the music, visitors to the Tollard Royal gardens - with its Victorian follies and roaming peacocks - can enjoy comedy stage performances by panel show darling Phill Jupitus, as well as numerous workshops, art installations and decorated spaces on site.

Event highlights are the secret shows - previous performers include Jarvis Cocker and Patti Smith - and the cider bus, which serves welcome pints of hot cider to late night revellers embracing the meteorological start of autumn.

The four-day festival - which won a 10/10 review from music magazine NME last year, and this year attracted a capacity crowd of 12,000 - ends on Sunday.
