Bully for lifeboat crew as calf rescued from cave

A calf was saved by a lifeboat crew after falling down a cliff and getting wedged in a cave.

The six-month-old bull fell around 20 metres from a cliff along the Devon coast near Dartmouth.

When a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crew tried to rescue the British White from a ledge "it was having none of it and dived back into the sea", a spokesman said.

The steer then tried to escape into a small cave but got wedged with its head under the water.

One of the rescuers dived into the sea and managed to pull the terrified creature from the cave.

It swam alongside one of the boats around 200 metres to the beach and was guided up a set of wooden steps to dry land.
