Devi was born on March 23rd, and zoo keepers say she loves paddling and diving in the pool. Visitors to the zoo are able to watch her enjoying herself through a subterranean glass window.

Now that she's comfortable with swimming in the deepest parts of the pool, the video shows Devi practicing her barrel roll, under the watchful eye of her mother.

Hippos are semi-aquatic animals and spend up to 18 hours a day in water. They are thought to be most closely related to whales.

In the wild, the common hippo can be found wallowing in the rivers and lakes of sub-Saharan Africa, although their numbers are believed to be declining due to both hunting and habitat loss.
