This video of a seal and a diver making friends in the waters off the Isles of Scilly is truly heartwarming.

Gary Grayson was scuba diving in the waters of the Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall when he made firm friends with a cheerful sea creature.

In the footage, the new friends even appear to shake hands before the seal flips on to his back for a belly rub from Gary.

Grayson has been scuba diving off Mexico, St Lucia and Cuba and has encountered dolphins, crocodiles and sharks but he says nothing has compared to his interaction with this seal.

The accomplished diver even keeps the video on his phone as a treasured souvenir.

The Isles of Scilly are known for their clear blue waters and white sand beaches that conjure up thoughts on the Caribbean despite the fact they are part of the UK.

The archipelago is made up of more than 100 islands but just five of them are inhabited, with a total population of just over 2,000 people.

The islands are home to a wide range of wildlife including seals and dolphins.
