Twelve people were injured when a bus crashed into a tree in east London.

A man is his forties is being treated for a head injury, and a woman in her sixties suffered hip pain after the collision near Manor Park station in Newham.

Another eight people were taken to hospitals in the city for treatment.

Photographs of the single decker red bus, carrying 15 passengers, showed it resting on a grassy verge having hit the tree on its far side.

Police said that no arrests had been made and their inquiries are continuing.
