Wondering what to do this August bank holiday? There are plenty of events taking place all over Britain the country to keep you and your families entertained.

For those in the north, why not head to Durham Streets Summer Festival which is happening between 29 and 31 August.

The event involves some of the world's best street performers taking to the roads of Durham for an action packed weekend. Take the opportunity to enjoy death-defying acrobatics, graceful routines and slapstick comedy.

If you're planning on heading to the capital this weekend there are a host of activities available. The Notting Hill Carnival is back on Sunday and Monday with performers taking to the streets of west London to celebrate Caribbean culture while those in and around Greenwich might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the stunning vessels taking part in the Tall Ships Festival.

For something a bit different, make your way to the west country to enjoy festival celebrating puppetry as an art form in stage and film in Bristol. For the first time the festival will be taking place on land and water with a diverse programme of events scheduled.
