Police have named a groom-to-be who died on his stag night.

Dale Joint, 24, from Leigh, Greater Manchester, was pulled from the water at Salthouse Dock in Liverpool on Saturday night.

Two of his friends aged in their early 20s were initially rescued but Mr Joint was only found after a further extensive search.

Mr Joint was pronounced dead at the city's Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "Merseyside Police can confirm that the 24-year-old man who died following an incident at Salthouse Dock on Saturday, August 22 2015, is Dale Joint. The family understand that there is media interest in the incident and have asked that they be left to grieve in peace and come to terms with their loss."

On her Facebook page, Mr Joint's aunt, Gaynor Isherwood, posted: "Taken too early the much loved soulmate of Katie and amazing father to Amelia. Our darling and funny nephew. Can't believe it. Heartbroken. Tragic. Love you to heaven and back. Xxxxx."

It is understood that Mr Joint was due to marry his fiancee, Katie Marie McNamara, in two weeks.

Earlier this year on June 17, Mr Joint tweeted: "Sat in work thinking about how excited I am to get married to the most wonderful girl on earth."
