One Direction have proved they are still top pick as a four-piece, winning eight gongs at the Teen Choice Awards.

The boy band were named choice male music group, choice summer music group, and choice selfie takers, while heartthrobs Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson beat former bandmate Zayn Malik to be named choice male hotties.

The group's hit Steal My Girl was named choice song by a group, while their track Night Changes was named choice love song, and single No Control was voted choice party song.

Their On The Road Again live show was crowned choice summer tour.

Fellow British band Little Mix also enjoyed a winning night at the Galen Centre in Los Angeles, picking up a surfboard award for choice music breakout artists after performing a lively rendition of their hit Black Magic

Supermodel Cara Delevingne scored awards for choice movie breakout star and choice summer female movie star for her first leading role in the drama Paper Towns, which was named choice summer movie.

The seventh instalment of the Fast And Furious franchise was also honoured by the young voters, who named it choice action/adventure movie.

Celebrating her seventh wedding anniversary

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who was celebrating her seventh wedding anniversary to actress Portia de Rossi, collected the first surfboard of the night for choice comedian, saying: "What a coincidence, I was on my way to the beach and had forgotten by surfboard so this will come in handy, I will put it on top of my car.

"I want to state right now I am pro teen choice. They say teens make bad decisions but you made a good choice tonight by choosing me, that was smart."

She added: "I want to say it feels good to be chosen but there was a time in my life when I was not chosen, I was the opposite of chosen because I was different and I want to make sure everyone knows what makes you different now makes you stand out later in life so you should be proud of being different and be proud of who you are."
