GoFundMe is full of people pulling on our heartstrings, asking for the good people of the world to dig deep into their pockets and donate a few quid for someone's education, medical assistance or save poorly animals from being put down.

Usually it's the neediest people who have fallen on tough times asking for a little bit of cash. So what happens when someone who doesn't actually NEED the money makes a GoFundMe page?

Author David Hughes wants you to give generously on his page, titled "I Would Like More Money Than I Have". There's no sick child or poorly cat involved, all donations go to a guy who just wants a bit more money.

Oh, and he'd also like a pet monkey, apparently. Here's his GoFundMe description in full.

"Hi. Do you like me? Have I ever made you laugh? Well, I need $10,000 to buy a monkey.

"I'm asking for your help to get my family a pet monkey. Right now we have domestic dogs & to be honest they are boring as shit.

"My fiancé & I live together in a huge house, more than enough room for a monkey. Honestly, you should see this place. We could have 10 monkeys and you wouldn't walk in and be like, 'Whoa, they must have like 10 monkeys.' You'd look around and be like, 'Do these guys even have pets? I can't see any sign of animals ever having been here.'

"Because the house is massive and we have a cleaner. We are happy here. We have made a life here. We are able to pay our rent. It's easy.

"We just, you know, we don't have a monkey. So please, donate generously so that I can use your money and not my own."

So far, Hughes has only raised $93 out of $10,000 in his quest to turn his house into a monkey palace, from nine generous donors.

Donor Jason Mulholland said: "When I heard you wanted some money, I just knew I HAD to do something."

Jack O'Connor enthused: "I think it really is a noble goal wanting more money than one currently has. That's the American dream at its purest. What will this money go towards?

"What does it matter?! David, Davey, Daverson, Daverino, the Davenator, Dav-Dav the robot butler, and all other common nicknames... Enjoy. Live the dream."

If you too would like to help David on his way to buying a monkey (probably not actually legal)/having more money than he already has (the most likely outcome), visit his GoFundMe page here. Or you could always check out one of his quite funny books over on Amazon.
