The rumours are true! It looks like the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower at the London 2012 Olympic Park will be turned into a death-defying slide in time for next spring.

The red metal sculpture, which was designed by Anish Kapoor for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, is currently the tallest sculpture in the UK and is soon to become home to the tallest tunnel slide in the world.

According to ITV, the slide will be 80 metres tall and will include five spirals on the way down.

The experience, which will hopefully only cost £5, will be a little cheaper than the activities that can currently be undertaken at the tower, which includes abseiling down for a fee of £85.

Currently you can pick out some of London's most famous landmarks from the top of the tower including, The Gherkin, Big Ben, The Shard and The O2.

Director of Visitor Relations at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Peter Tudor, said: "What more exciting way to descend the ArcelorMittal Orbit than on the world's longest and tallest tunnel slide?

"We are committed to ensuring our visitors have the best possible day out every time they visit Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and as with all our venues, we are constantly exploring ways to ensure we lead the way with the latest visitor experience."
