Is this the best burger in Britain?
Brits now consume more than 100 million burgers a year: along with kebabs, they make up for at least half of all meals when we consume in restaurants, from takeaway joints to top-notch restaurants.
They've certainly come a long way since they were first burger restaurant opened in the UK in the 1950s (it was a Wimpy, since you ask) - and in recent years we've seen the rise and rise of the posh burger. Now restaurants and pubs around the country with all sorts of ingenious additions and combinations.
So where are the best burgers in the land? We've teamed up with Tripadvisor to bring you the top ten best-rated burgers around the UK.
1. Rox Burger, London
Making its way to the top spot this year, Rox Burger was only founded last year by Brazilian chef Fabrizio Bodnar Pires and the establishment prides itself on its fresh ingredients - it vows never to use anything that has been frozen. Fans rave about the burgers here, and one reviewer went as far as to say: "Don't tell anyone about this place. It's brilliant. Food amazing. Service great." Marcela Pires, co-owner of Rox Burger, said: "To be named the best rated burger in the UK is an incredible honour, especially since it is based on the ratings and reviews of those who matter most - our customers."
2. Meat59, Torquay, Devon
Meat59 uses locally sourced beef and pork from the Devon area and has come up with quirky names for its burgers including: 'That's my burger nacho burger' which is a Mexican inspired meal including the spicy Jalapeño chilis and guacamole.
3. Burger Brothers, Brighton, Sussex
Burger Brothers can be found in the popular North Laine food district in Brighton. Known for their unusual plaited Challah breads which are used in place of a bun, Burger Brothers is a small organisation run by two friends.
4. Burgers Off Broadway, London
Situated on London's Fulham Broadway, Burgers Off Broadway serves burgers made from hand reared cattle in a brioche bun with options including the classic 'American Cheese & Gherkin'.
5. Boss Burgers, Leeds
Made with the 'best grass-fed Yorkshire cattle', Boss Burgers in Leeds offers its diners alternative options including 'The Goats Cheese & Chilli One', consisting of a beer burger patty, goats cheese, chilli jam, rocket and homemade Boss mayo.
6.Hub Box Exeter, Exeter
Hub Box opened in 2003 on the harbour front in St Ives. Hub Box Exeter serves burgers made from Cornish rare breed beef and a range of local seafood and seasonal specials.
7. 6oz Burgers, Portsmouth
6oz burgers in Portsmouth does what it says on the tin, offering a simple menu of six different variations of the traditional burger. The 6oz Burgers menu includes the 'Classic', the 'Chilli' and the 'Veggie'among others.
8. The Paget, Loughborough
Found just outside Loughborough town centre, this former Victorian terrace pub now offers 'Burgers & Brews'. Highlights on the menu include the ''Pulled Pork in Hirata bun' with hoi sin sauce, spring onion and fresh chilli.
9. BlackHorn, St. Andrews
BlackHorn's menu features classic burgers and wraps made from 100% beef from local farmers. Popular choices include the 'Greenburger' and the 'Grillburger'.
10. The Shack, Torquay
The Shack is home to hand pressed burgers that are made locally using only the best prime South West aged beef. With the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant, diners have the chance to check out their food while its still being made.
