Oh we do like to be beside the seaside - and millions of us will be taking at least one summer holiday on Britain's coast this year.

But where to stay? With thousands of miles of stunning coastline all around the UK, we're spoilt for choice when it comes to finding spectacular coastal scenery, but finding a really decent place to rest our weary heads isn't quite so easy.

So with the help of the National Trust, we've put together a list of 15 faultless places to stay by the sea.

All the cottages and apartments on the list are National Trust properties. They include two lovely Lighthouse Keepers' Cottages in Devon and Tyne and Wear as well as an Old Coastguard Station in North Yorkshire.

If you're looking for somewhere to stay by the sea, want beautiful houses with breathtaking views, then take a look at our slideshow below to find out more about the best coastal cottages on offer this summer.
