Michael Schumacher is "making progress" following a ski accident in the French Alps which left the Formula 1 champion in a coma.

His manager Sabine Kehm told German newspaper BILD: "We are pleased to continue to say that he is making progress, and I say that always, given the severity of his head injuries."

According to Yahoo! Sport, his family is spending £100,000 a week on healthcare.

Earlier in May, it was reported that Schumacher's wife sold off his £25 million jet after allegedly accepting that it was unlikely he would use it again.

Corinna Schumacher has been running Michael's £500 million business empire since he suffered devastating brain injuries in a skiing accident on 29 December 2013.

She looks after the bank accounts, lawyers, business advisers and personnel in the running of the business, which still reportedly generates millions.

In January, Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra reported that the racing champion cried to his wife and children's voices.

Writing for the paper, Giorgio Terruzi said: "Schumi cries. And sometimes mysteriously. He cries when he hears his children, his wife's voice, his dogs. In the silence of that room, a tear runs down his thin face at a known sound."

He added: "Inside this we can find... There is life, enclosed in a drop; there is the strength of a man who is moved and that moves each of us. We have his tears, his senses exposed."
