Madrid's Daily Rhythm

It's safe to say you won't find any other place in the world like Madrid, an old-hearted town with a young and energetic spirit, a perfect mix of liveliness and splendour.

Narrow, cobbled streets and wide treelined boulevards leading to bustling squares and wonderful historical architecture hidden around every corner: Madrid's quaint, Spanish vibe mixes effortlessly with the the metropolitan infrastructure and recent modern developments, as this video shows.

Watch the video and then check out our three favourite things to do in the city, below:

1. Visit the Royal Palace of Madrid. The imposing, over-the-top Baroque palace is not only the King of Spain's residence, but also a depot of world-class art, with works by Caravaggio, Velázquez and Francisco de Goya on public display.

2. Take a stroll around one of the city's wonderful green spaces, such as Casa de Campo, which, at 1,700 hectares (6.6 square miles), is five times bigger than Central Park in New York. There's also a huge lakes where you can go boating and kayaking, a funfair, and Madrid Zoo.

3.Bask in the atmosphere of El Rastro, oldest and most atmospheric flea market in town. Every Sunday it seems like the whole of Madrid is in one place: C/Ribera de Curtidores, in the Embajadores neighbourhood, where dozens of stalls are set up selling second-hand clothes, vinyl records, jewellery and just about any object you can imagine.
