A woman has fallen to her death from cliffs that feature in the hit drama Broadchurch.

Emergency services were called around midday on Wednesday after a woman was found unconscious at the base of the 80ft cliffs at West Bay in Dorset.

According to ITV News, a spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 11.54am on Wednesday to reports that someone had fallen off the cliffs at West Bay.

"Officers attended the scene and found an elderly woman on the beach below. She was treated at the scene but sadly died.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"The coroner has been notified, but the next of kin are yet to be informed."

A spokesman for South Western ambulance service told the Daily Telegraph: "We received a call at 11.49am to an incident in West Bay.

"There was one elderly female casualty who was found unconscious at the scene, and the ambulance service attended the scene along with the air ambulance and police."

According to Daily Star, a spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said two teams from Lyme Regis and West Bay attended the incident and assisted police.

Meanwhile, the cliffs at West Bay recently hit the headlines after it emerged they were being invaded by doggers.
