Cub Scouts saw a little more than they were expecting when their hike accidentally led them to a nudist beach in San Diego.

The scouts, ages nine and 10, were on a planned hike on 24 January in the area of Torrey Pines State Beach.

Some of the hiking trails in the area lead down to the beaches below the cliffs, and one beach in particular, Black's Beach (pictured above), is known for being a nudist one.

According to 10News, In a statement, officials with the Boy Scouts of America, San Diego-Imperial Council, said: "During a planned hiking trip at Torrey Pines State Beach, a local Cub Scout Pack encountered some individuals who were inappropriately dressed.

"This outing, involving both parents and adult volunteer leaders, was quickly rerouted to protect the youth.

"Following the trip, both San Diego-Imperial Council and Pack leadership met with parents to discuss the events and determine if further action was needed.

"Together we concluded that proper protocol had been observed and appropriate steps were taken in this matter."

A ranger told NBC 7 that it's not uncommon to see scouts in the area working towards earning an outdoor badge.

But, we're presuming, they usually steer clear of the nude beach.
