Brave boy protects baby chimp from hungry hyena (video)
A boy has been caught on camera fiercely protecting a baby chimp from a scavenging hyena.
The young boy is seen cuddling the chimp, which is wearing a nappy, just before he notices the hyena descending upon them.
As the hyena attempts to grab the little chimpanzee from the boy's arms, the young lad is having none of it, and pushes the hungry animal away before kicking out at it, too.
The hyena even has its jaws around the boy's arm at one point.
According to the Mirror, the incident is thought to have occurred somewhere in North Africa.
The animal appears to slope off as it realises what it thought was going to be an easy meal clearly wasn't.
There were a number of reactions to the video on Reddit. One user asked: "Why is there a kid, a chimp and a hyena there in the first place?" Good question that we don't know the answer to.
Another said: "That kind of p****d me off. How can someone see this scene, and just keep filming like nothing [is happening]."
And another user replied: "Hyena doesnt look like it's an adult. It also is just being overly friendly, like dogs sometimes are. If it actually wanted to cause the kid harm, it would."
