Customer films 3 giant rats eating food at pizza bar

A pizza shop in Russia has been shut down after a customer filmed three large rats running over and nibbling the displayed food.

Evgeny Ivanov, 26, spotted the rats at a fast food restaurant in a bus station in Nizhny Novogorad.

According to the NY Daily News, he said: "I couldn't believe it. The three rats were enormous and were blatantly gnawing away at the pizzas-I don't know where the pizza seller was.

"I got the phone out as I wanted to prove what was happening, there is a real problem with rats around here and seeing this is just unbelievable."

According to the Metro, a spokesman for the food bar said: "We are aware of the situation and are taking measures to remove the rats permanently and make sure they don't come back.

"Why the sales assistant didn't alert us to the problem we have no idea but we will be questioning her."

According to the Mirror, there has been an outbreak of viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) in the region this year.

VHF is a syndrome that attacks organs within the body, can cause internal bleeding and can be life threatening. And it is commonly spread by rodents.

A police spokesman said "We have ordered the pizza outlet to be closed and the food items to be destroyed.

"This is a grave danger to the public and we will be checking other outlets to ensure nothing similar is happening or is allowed to happen in the future."
