The Shard to put on light show every night until New Year
The Shard has started the countdown to 2015 with a spectacular light show illuminating the sky over the London attraction every night until New Year.
Shard Lights brings the 300-metre-tall building alive and treats visitors to an amazing display from 5pm to midnight until 31 December.
Art collective Jason Bruges Studio created the show, which occupies the highest 40 storeys of The Shard. The nightly event has been designed to celebrate the year The Shard came to life.
Irvine Sellar, developer and shareholder of The Shard, said: "We wanted to create an unprecedented installation that takes an architectural icon and turns it into a piece of public art as a gift that every Londoner can enjoy during the festive season.
"Shard Lights reflects the diversity and energy of our wonderful city and will put us on a par with the celebrations in global cities like Paris, New York and Sydney."
Jason Bruges said: "Shard Lights will create a theatre in the sky, and it will be a prominent feature of the London skyline for the twelve days of the project. It has been an honour to work on this project for such an iconic and internationally recognised building."
Speaking to Mirror Online, Bruges added: "We're going to have effects that run across those 40 storeys that will ripple and rotate while the building sparkles and glimmers.
"Big search lights are going to frame the building by pointing straight up and then going out laterally and at 45 degrees to create different shape around the top of the spire."
