The Fixer: O2 issue resolved

Updated

Have you been left out of pocket due to poor service or sharp practice? Do you have a money problem that won't go away?

It can seem impossible to get a fair result when you are battling a financial issue alone. But never fear! The AOL Money Fixer is here to help.

Dear Fixer,
We moved our business mobile account to O2 some time ago on the advice of a telecoms contractor called Avant Garde, which we took on to keep our mobile costs down.

However, despite it putting us on a tariff that was supposed to include overseas data and calls, we noticed that we were still being charged extra for these services.

We tried to contact Avant Garde about this issue, before approaching O2 directly when we received no help or information from them.

The problem is that O2 says it cannot change anything about our tariff because the contract is with Avant Garde and the account is via a distribution channel called "Daisy".

It's very frustrating, especially as we continue to be overcharged for overseas calls. Can you help?

S Rodman, Brighton

Dear Mr Rodman,

Following my intervention, O2 has now taken over direct control of your business account.

It claims that it could not do this before because the account was connected and managed by Daisy and Avant Garde, forcing O2 to "adhere to Rules of Engagement to ensure that all parties involved agree to the change".

Now that it has direct control, however, it has been able to make the necessary changes to your tariff.

As a gesture of goodwill, the company has also recalculated your bills from the beginning of August and is crediting your account with £356.72 to account for the extra charges made.
