A baby cow was born with a perfect number seven on its head at a farm in Pennsylvania, USA.

Vale Wood Farms has named the calf Baby Ben after Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Carissa Itle-Westrick, of the family-owned food-and-grocery farm, said she hopes the American football player won't mind sharing his name with the "awfully cute" calf.

Speaking to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, she said: "He turned to face me, and I said, 'Wow, it's a perfect little 7.'"

Baby Ben was born last Saturday on the farm, located 80 miles from Pittsburgh.

Roethlisberger, who wears the number seven shirt for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has an official website bigben7.com, which acknowledged the new calf in a blog post, writing for visitors to the farm not to "forget to say hello to Baby Ben while you're there (who is probably gonna milk this new-found fame for all it's worth!)".

Baby Ben will be on display during the farm's pumpkin patch event from 1 to 19 October.

Last year, a baby cow with two heads, one brain, two snouts and four eyes was born at a dairy farm in Vermont. Sadly the calf died days later. It would have been a twin if it had split properly inside its mother as an egg.

Farm owner Kirstin Quesnel said: "Just like with humans we have some abnormalities with animals and animal births and this just happened to be one of them."
